 President’s
Message
It
is with great honor to have been elected as Hawk’s International
Youth Organization’s President and to succeed Ralph Ramsey. I
entered this organization with great enthusiasm and confidence
in its mission and future.
My
initial experience with Hawks was as a seamstress, detailing
costumes and minor alterations. Given my professional
background in finance, business operations and public relations,
I later moved into positions on the finance committee and
assisted with Adult Mas, community and fundraising events.
During these initial experiences, I was fortunate to work along
side many remarkable individuals who shared their passion and
expertise, which empowered me to seek and pursue key roles in
the organization.
With
the assistance of my esteemed colleagues on our executive
committee, our hope is to better position HIYO in community-wide
cultural, educational and philanthropic initiatives. By doing
so, HIYO would become an attractive non-profit organization
welcoming young people from the Caribbean diaspora who are
passionate about representing and sharing their respective
cultures.
In
addition, our goal is to strengthen the business operations of
HIYO for its members as well as appeal to local and national
supporters. I invite you to email me your thoughts, suggestions
and comments and urge you to stay tuned to the development of
HIYO as we dare to forge the future.
Yours
in service,
Maya
George
